Adventure Snood

£0.00

Winter is here and we need knitwear. Sweaters and cardigans are great, but sometimes you just want a project that you can complete in a session or two for some instant(-ish!) gratification. Enter: the Adventure Snood. It’s a super quick project made with a single skein of Sirdar Adventure. This budget-friendly super chunky yarn offers great stitch definition, whilst also being soft, squishy and warm.

The Snood itself is knit flat in trendy brioche stitch for a minimal and effortlessly chic look. The cast-on and -off edges are sewn together at the end to join it in the round. If you want, you can make the Adventure Snood into a full length scarf, but you will need another skein of Sirdar Adventure. To make my Adventure Snood, I used the shade Polar.

Materials

1 skein of Sirdar Adventure
15mm knitting needles (straight or circular)
A darning needle

Note: you can use any super chunky yarn to make this snood, (e.g., The Wool by We Are Knitters, Crazy Sexy Wool by Wool and the Gang, Cool Wool by Betta Knit), but it has been designed with Sirdar Adventure in mind. Each skein of Adventure is 25m longer than the other yarns listed here so, if you choose to use a different yarn, please note that it will be slightly shorter than the sample garment.

Techniques

Casting on

Casting off
Invisible seams (tutorial here)

Each technique is explained in the pattern.

Difficulty

Tension

Tension is not overly important for this pattern, as there is no sizing and brioche stitch is very stretchy. However, if you are not using the same yarn as me, you may wish to check that it will work up the same way as Sirdar Adventure.

If this is the case, you should prepare a 10x10cm swatch on 15mm needles working 6 stitches over 12 rows. Each ‘V’ represents two rows. You should have 6 ‘V’s.
