FAQs

I need pattern support. How can I get in touch?

Happy to help! Please email me at the.knit.purl.girl2020@gmail.com. I aim to reply to all emails within 7 working days, but this is not always possible. When it isn’t possible, I will have an automated out-of-office response in place to let you know and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I want to knit one of your patterns but it isn’t available in my size. Can you help?

Absolutely! Just drop me an email (see above!) and I’ll be more than happy to help. I am in the process of expanding my size range across some of my older patterns (I’m currently working on updates to the Lucca Cardigan and the Aosta Cardigan) and I will send updated pdfs out to existing customers once they are available. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch about this, as I am very happy to discuss this further.

That being said, I am not able to re-grade patterns based on gauge (i.e., the pattern you want to knit has a gauge of 21 sts in 10 cm /4 in of knitting, but you want to make the design at a gauge of 14 sts in 10 cm /4 in of knitting) as this would require me to completely re-work a pattern which is not sustainable as a small business.

I want to knit one of your patterns but it isn’t available in my language. Can you help?

Translating patterns is a labour-intensive process that can be very costly. As a small business, I have to make strategic decisions based on a range of factors when I consider getting a pattern translated into another language. Unfortunately, this means that a minority of my patterns are available in languages other than English.

That being said, I am always open to translation requests, even if it isn’t always possible to follow through with a translation, so please do get in touch if you are looking for non-English language patterns. As my business grows and develops, I hope to have more translations done more often.

Can you recommend a tech editor?

Absolutely! Tech editors do an amazing job pouring over the fine details of a pattern and ensuring as much accuracy as possible. My editor is Rebecca Williamson and I can’t recommend her services highly enough.

Which needles do you use?

I vary between using Lykke Blush Interchangeable Circular Needles if I want wooden needles (I love the swivel cord), KnitPro Nova Interchangeable Circular Needles when I want metal needles, and ChiaGoo Fixed Circular Needles for projects that require a smaller needle tip. I love all of these needles and recommend them all highly.

For reference, what are your measurements?

I am 162.5 cm / 5 ft 4 in tall, and am currently somewhere between a UK size 8 and 10. My full bust measurement is 92 cm / 36 in and my waist measurement is 70 cm /27.5 in. In my patterns, I tend to knit a Size D and I don’t tend to include waist shaping as I don’t find it works for my body shape.
